Femme fatale (French for fatal woman) refers to a woman who is sexually attractive, seductive and cunning who brings disaster to anyone with whom she is romantically involved with. It is an archetype found within history, folklore, mythology and religious literature. Examples include but not limited to Cleopatra, Medusa, Delilah, Catwoman. This archetype has grown to be a trope across modern writing and modern media with many adopting it as a symbol of empowerment.
